Each INSET/Twilight can be provided as part of a package that combines the Creative Computing Curriculum, Classroom Days and Webinars.

This INSET/Twilight will give all teachers:

  • An understanding of why we need to equip young learners with the knowledge and creative digital skills that they will need for life
  • Full coverage of the computing curriculum (Information Technology, Computer Science, Digitial Literacy)
  • Ideas and approaches on how computing can be taught creatively and raise standards across the curriculum
  • An overview of how Knowledge Organisers can be used to develop pupils’ robust knowledge and understanding
  • A clear sense of progression in each area of computing that demonstrates what has been learned in previous years, what will be learned in the current project and what will be covered next
  • An understanding of how WAGOLLs can be used demonstrate to the pupils how we can use existing work to create amazing work and how teachers can use these to model to show the pupils what a great piece of work might look like
  • An overview of each project and resources, including activity ideas, knowledge organisers, skills coverage, WAGOLLs for each activity, key information, modeled writing examples, sentence starters and key vocabulary and short video clips and how these can be utilised to dramatically reduce teachers’ planning time

This INSET/Twilight will give all teachers:

  • Ideas on how to teach pupils to write for a range of purposes and will inspire even the most reluctant writers
  • Effective use of technology to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ideas on ways spoken language can be captured and rehearsed (discussion, oral rehearsal, spoken presentation and feedback)
  • Ways to scaffold learning (modeling language, using key vocabulary and sentence starters and providing help to support the writing process)
  • Highly engaging writing projects use technology to make the children want to write and enjoy writing
  • Way to capture feedback and reflection to improve written work

This INSET/Twilight will give all teachers:

The confidence to teach their pupils the New Computer Curriculum using *iPad Apps and online tools

Tried and tested lesson ideas, which will engage, challenge and enthuse learners across Key Stage 1 & 2, that they can use immediately in their classrooms

Ideas how all aspects of the computing curriculum can be taught in a creative, fun and interactive way

Different ways programming can be taught with a number of unplugged activities

Game design projects to embed programming into other areas of the curriculum (including maths and literacy)

A confident knowledge of computer terminology

An opportunity to explore how the creative use of apps can be used for AfL and summative assessment

  • Ideas to support young people to be safe, healthy and succeed online.
  • Access to projects that cover eight different aspects of online safety education (Self Image & Identity, Online Relationships, Online Reputations, Online Bullying, Managing Information, Health Well Being and Life Style, Self Image and Identity, Copyright and Ownership) for pupils in key stage 1 and 2.
  • Confidence to support pupils and broaden the provision of online education, so that it is empowering, builds resilience and effects positive cultural change.
  • Ways to promote the development of safe and appropriate long-term behaviours, and supports educators in shaping the culture within their setting and beyond.’
